12-30-11

Zach received a bear blanket for Christmas. This morning I wrapped it around him with the paws around his neck and the head facing him. He snuggled in with his sweet smile. Looking at his bear he said, "I love you so much." What a wonderful sentiment to be able to articulate.

Today Zach played with his first imaginary friend, that I know of. Its name is Crutch. It is black and green. Eats bugs. The sound it makes is 'I love you.' And, Zach can't find him anywhere! Hopefully Crutch will make another appearance soon.

12-28-11

Meeting Mike for lunch. I ordered a beer!

December 28, 2011

Mike told Zach that he was sad when Zach deconstructed his marble track. Zach said, "Oh no! Get on the sofa. Watch Dora!" Mike had to get ready for work, but Zach enjoyed some Dora anyway.

December 24, 2011

Zach can sing parts of several Christmas carols. His favorite seems to be Jingle Bells. He knows one verse and likes to say the, "hey" part and the "giddy up, diggy up," part.  He sings it all really soft with a little smile on his face, which means to hear him, I sing really soft too. The other night, he wanted Mike and I to sit with him on the floor and sing carols instead of watching TV. During this time, he kept rolling toward the presents under the Christmas tree.  He is curious about those.

He also likes to get buried under a pile of pillows. Then someone says, "Where's Zach? He was just here." He is giggling the whole time under the pillows. At some point, he pops his head out of the top and yells, "Kaprise!" He did that a lot the other night too. That little kid knows how to have a good time.

Zach loves Rice Krispies. He calls them Snap, Crackle, Pops. We pour the cereal and milk in the bowl, then listen, then eat 2-3 bowls.

December 19, 2011

When I arrived at work today, I discovered that I did not schedule myself until Wednesday. It afforded me the opportunity to speak with the recruiter in HR that hired me at KUMed.  I had a little time to spare before my impromptu appointment so I went to the cafeteria. I stood in line behind Bob Page, CEO.  At one point I contemplated paying for his breakfast, because who does that? Then I wondered if he would pay for mine. Then he paid $1.38 for his and left. I should have done it. I told the cashier that I was kind of hoping Bob Page would buy my breakfast, and the whole line started laughing. I guess everyone was feeling the presence of the might B. Page.

December 18, 2001

Zach was jumping on our bed while I was getting his PJs ready. He bumped something and began to cry a little. I say, "Oh no, did you hit your head?" Kiss his head. "No." "Your nose?" Kiss his nose. "No. I hit my mouth." Then he stuck out his tongue for a kiss to make it better.

We moved his tent to the living room so he could watch TV shaded from the sun streaming in the window. He has been having a lot of fun in it.

Zach has blocks that you can make into marble track. He says 'I want to build.' Today he really got excited about his letter from Santa. Grandma has written some too. I'm excited to get them and see Zach's reaction. Just now he named all the Bubble Guppies.

December 16, 2011

Zach's winter coat. I checked several stores for a good winter coat. Every one of them looked cheap or thin, or in the case of L.L. Bean, $70.  I found this one at Children's Orchard, the consignment shop for kids. It is my favorite one of all and only $17. Osh Kosh B'Gosh. I love the color.

Anatomy of Meteoric Day

7:00 a.m. Dec 14 - Clock radio alarms. Zachy got to sleep with me last night because Mike was in Vegas. He is very warm and snuggly, but he is not interested in getting up, even to sound of annoying country-western Christmas carols on radio.

7:30 - I am dressed for my 8:00 appointment at gym. Zach walks into the study room. He says, "Here I am Mommie. I here."  Then curls up on the floor.  Something is a little off.

7:45 - I cancel my appointment at the gym. This could be costly as it requires 24 hours notice. I plan on fighting that policy.

8:00 - Zach has eaten some toast and drank a lot of milk. I get him dressed, and go to get self ready. Zach coughs and starts crying. I run out. Pick him up and pat his back while asking: "Zach, does your tummy hurt?" No. "Does your chest hurt?" No. Cack. Splat. He pukes on my hair, down my shirt, down his outfit and all over the carpet. "My mouth hurts." Ugh.

8:01 - Zach and I take a shower, and clean up the mess.

8:30 - I am in a state of clarity, way past anxiety or fear.  I need to study and I need to do it now. If he gets sicker. I am in big trouble. I snuggle him in towels on the sofa with a bowl to puke in, a sippy cup of water and Mickey Mouse full length movie (thank god).

10:30 I have been able to get some stuff done. Zach is now running around. I take him to Kidz Kabana. On the way there, he says, "Go dat way mommie. Go left." Me - "WHAT? Ok."  I get to the next intersection and ask him which way to go and he says "right."  When did he learn right and left? He hasn't done it again, but still.  I tell Kidz Kabana he has been "slow" this morning, but don't mention the barf that was on my hair. Guilt washes over me for all the kids who may pick up a stomach virus and barf on their Christmas. Then, I study like hell for the rest of the day.

5:30 - Go get Zach. He is ok. He proceeds to eat 9 fish sticks and watch the Dora Christmas special. More studying for me.

7:30 - We snuggle up together. Watch Kipper and Zach is in bed by 8.

8:00 p.m. Mike calls from Phoenix airport. He is on his way home. This is the first time I begin to crack up over how much I still have to get done.

9:30 - Can't find the damn cat. Don't really want to leave her outside. I step out onto the patio. It is really warm. The clouds and rain of the day have blown away and the stars are crystal clear. I see a huge shooting star with a tail and sparks. Speedy shows up.

10:00 p.m. To hell with it, I'm going to bed.

1:00 a.m. Zach is crying. Mike must have just gotten home. I find them snuggling on the sofa, and go back to sleep.

5:00 a.m. to school to study until 8:30 and take test.

10:00 a.m. Dec 15 - Final complete. I probably did ok, but several of those questions were nowhere on the study guide. With all the time in the world I would not have studied that stuff. So now my fate is in the stars.

December 14, 2011

Zach makes it his business to turn on the Christmas lights every morning which entails waking up Santa and pushing the right buttons on Daddy's remote control switches. He then enjoys 2 pieces of toast with butter and milk. Today milk is served in Sippysaurus while the Bubble Guppies Christmas special plays on TV.

December 13, 2011

Zach sneezed and said 'cuse me.' That's the first time I have heard him say that. His eagerness to be polite makes me so proud.

He received his first letter from Santa in Cole's old mailbox placed outside his bedroom door.

The last 2 days he has loved playing with silicon baking cups that Gma Meier gave me. Calls them 'colors.' Red, green, yellow, orange.

I was listening to the radio and asked him if he liked the song that was playing, because he was bopping his head. He said its "Owl song . . .  Whooo hoo hooo. Owl." It was Leona Lewis and she does sound like an owl!      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zlt57Q7ZVU&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Mike called from a business trip to Las Vegas. He stepped off the plane at the airport. Put $10 in a slot machine and won $540! That is the second time he has done that. He won another $5-600 about a year ago which we spent on our late September Estes Park, CO vacation to hear the Elk bugling, when Zach and I drove out and met Mike at the Denver airport on his way back from Vegas.

I'm studying/dreading studying for my comprehensive Pathophysiology final on Thursday. I had my front teeth redone yesterday. The first set-up was placed when I was about 13. About time, I guess.
